These beautiful fossilized Araucaria tree trunks were formed around 220 million years ago on Madagascar.
Size of the sections approx. 10 - 15cm, weight approx. 2.0 - 2.5kg, different grains, shapes and colors.
The flat Point of the One side polished piece is polished, so that the grain of the wood can be seen very nicely.
Petrified Wood Occurs when tree trunks are covered by sand or other sediment. The organic components are gradually washed out and replaced by jasper or chalcedony. The structure of the wood remains intact, even if the original organic material is eventually completely replaced by minerals. Araucaria are evergreen conifers that still grow in the southern hemisphere today.
