In Buddhism, Kuan Yin is the goddess of compassion, togetherness and unlimited love. At the beginning of time, Kuan Yin lived with all creatures on earth. She showed them how they should treat each other. Based on this idea, Kuan Yin also became a symbol for a vegetarian lifestyle.
As one of the most revered figures in East Asian Buddhism, she can be found in numerous iconographies, texts and practiced religions.
