Calcite can also be found on the market under the names calcite/limestone spar, double spar, limestone and sea chalk. In common parlance, calcite is also known as Beinbruchstein. Of the various possible spellings, e.g. calcite, calcite, calcite or calcide, the spelling calcite, which is most commonly found in the wholesale trade today, has prevailed.
