This striking 925 silver ring, rhodiniert and highly polished, combines an expressive drop-shaped Natrolite cabochon with an elegantly faceted pink tourmaline. The large Natrolite forms the center of the design and is held securely by a classic bezel setting. The tourmaline placed above it creates a sophisticated accent with its vibrant pink brilliance.
Natrolite belongs to the zeolite group and normally forms white to light gray crystal clusters. However, the material used here is a particularly rare, compact variety with a pink hue. This occurred millions of years ago when lava fissures in the south of Java (Indonesia) were filled with iron-rich Natrolite. The cabochon for this ring was cut from this unusual material.
Examinations at the Gemstone Testing Institute (EPI) revealed that the material consists of around 90% Natrolite and around 10% Thomsonite, another mineral of the zeolite group. The name "pink Larimar" occasionally used in the trade is not mineralogically correct and can be misleading.
The rhodiniert surface protects the silver from tarnishing and gives the ring a permanently bright, high-quality appearance. With its unusual combination of materials, the rare Natrolite and the intensely colored tourmaline, this gemstone ring is a special piece of jewelry for jewellers, specialist jewelry stores and high-quality mineral ranges.
