The discovery of the numerous minerals of the zeolite group began in the 19th century, when numerous mineralogists and collectors throughout Europe began to study these exciting minerals.
Discovered and described were e.g. Analcime, Heulandite, Clinoptilolite, Natrolite, Skolecite, Stilbite, Thomsonite and Zeagonite. The research of these exciting minerals is not finished until today; as the youngest member chernichite was added to the zeolite group in 1992.
Often minerals of the apophyllite group are also found in the immediate vicinity of zeolites.
