Elaborately handcrafted white star in a circle - a beautiful decoration not only for Advent and Christmas!
Size of the poinsettia approx. 11.5 x 11.5 cm, brass sockets.
The translucent Capiz shell (Windowpane oyster Placuna Placenta) has been used for centuries in Indonesia to make elaborate handicrafts and as a substitute for glass. This is why the shell is also known as a windowpane shell.
The processing of the capiz shell is very time-consuming, as the different layers of the Mussel shell are first carefully separated and made malleable by soaking. After shaping, cutting and drying, the individual pieces of shell are dyed and then assembled into beautiful decorations.
The capiz shells for the Christmas decorations come from farms; the shellfish meat is a traditional local food.
Stone weight white pearl 65ct, metal weight 10g.
