A striking gemstone ring from our jewelry workshop in Indonesia: The round Nephrite cabochon, 20 mm in diameter, showcases the stone’s characteristic intense green color. A small, faceted white topaz adds a sparkling accent and creates a beautiful contrast to the warm luster of the gold-plated silver. The nephrite is set on a silver plate, and the 3-mm topaz is securely set in a bezel. Thanks to its clean, linear design, the ring is an excellent, eye-catching piece for the collections of jewelers, goldsmiths, jewelry stores, and gemstone retailers. In this remote region, natural nephrite boulders are found in areas such as the vicinity of the Dare River. Individual rough blocks can weigh anywhere from one to two metric tons. Since many sites are virtually inaccessible by vehicle, large blocks sometimes have to be broken up by hand on site, and smaller pieces must first be carried through the rugged terrain.
