Chakras and gemstones – balancing the energy centers
Chakras are the energy centers of the body. The name “chakra” comes from the ancient Indian cultural language Sanskrit, where it means “wheel.” Chakras are therefore usually depicted as spinning wheels lined up along the central axis of the body from the lap to the crown of the head.
Each chakra represents an area of life, a theme. Everything that happens in this area is also reflected in the corresponding chakra. In addition, each chakra has a spiritual, mental, emotional, and vital aspect that wants to be lived.
By using the appropriate gemstones, the chakras, and thus the respective area of life, can be balanced.
What are chakras?
Today, we generally know that chakras are energy centers. The descriptions we find in modern literature originate mainly from India. They are usually counted from bottom to top, i.e., the first chakra is located at the perineum, coccyx, or below the pubic bone (depending on the perspective), and the highest is at the crown of the head.
But that is where the similarities end. The various traditions offer completely different information about the exact position, nature and characteristics, opening, direction of rotation, meaning, and even the number of chakras. On closer inspection, it becomes clear that basically every system describes all the characteristics and qualities of the chakras, but that, due to philosophical considerations, several chakras are often grouped together into specific “units.”
The number of chakras in the various systems is therefore not about how many chakras actually exist, but which (and thus how many) chakras play a role in relation to a particular system or context. Hence the wide variation in numbers from three to ten. However, there is much to suggest that we have at least nine main chakras in the body.
Each chakra represents a specific area of life or a specific theme. Everything that happens “within us” in relation to this area of life (desires, thoughts, feelings, impulses to act) takes place in this chakra. Depending on where (in which chakra) we shift our consciousness, one or the other chakra becomes active, awakening different desires, thoughts, images, feelings, and impulses to act. In addition, each chakra has a spiritual, mental, emotional, and vital aspect that wants to be lived.
